Real Estate Photographs

by William Lulow

Lately, I’ve been asked to shoot several houses for real estate agents wanting to list them for sale and make advertisements or sell sheets. The technique doesn’t require any high-end lighting techniques, but  this type of photography should be done with the camera mounted on a tripod and centered on the floor/wall axis in order to minimize distortion. In the old days, I would have shot interiors with a view camera and used the swings and tilts to eliminate distortion altogether. Today, it is necessary to level the camera in order  to get rid of most distortion. Sometimes, it is impossible with an ordinary DSLR to eliminate ALL distortion.
