Photography of Motion

by William Lulow

Recently, I was asked to do some photographs at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at New York’s Lincoln Center. The client did not manage to secure press seats for the event, so I had to make images from the side of the room. This meant that I was going to have to do some stop-motion photography in a low light situation. The best way to do this is to follow the movement from the beginning to the end and press the shutter about half way through. This will ensure getting sharp enough images. The trick is to pan with the motion and keep going even after the picture is actually taken.
